This year the Worship Council are made up of members from Year 1 to Year 4.
The Worship Council plays a vital role in the development of worship within our school.
The aims are:
- To develop ways of ensuring that each and every member of St Peter’s CE Academy has time and space to think, reflect and connect with themselves, others and God.
- To play an active part in the planning and deliverance of pupil-led worship.
- To identify children who they spot demonstrating our school vision and values.
Even if a child is not a Worship Council representative they play an important part in demonstrating daily the Christian values that we are proud of. All children are encouraged to spot others carrying out the school values that show our Christian character and ethos. If anyone spots examples of our values being carried out they can write what they have seen on a post-it note and add it to our values board in the hall.
Spiritual Ambassador Day 2024
We had a wonderful day working with our Christian Distinctiveness Advisor. The focus this year was prayer. We considered lots of different ways to pray. We thought about the categories: me, others, please, thank you and sorry. We loved confetti prayers, we took a pinch of confetti and put it into a central place; while we were doing this we thought about who we wanted to pray for and why. One of our favourite prayers was the ‘love heart’ prayer. We put a love heart on our tongue and waited for it to dissolve. While it was dissolving we thought about who we loved, who we found hard to love and people who don’t know that they are loved.
Spiritual Ambassador Day 2023
On Thursday 19th October 2023, the worship council took part in a Spiritual Ambassador Day at All Saints Church in Denstone. The children worked with our Christian Distinctiveness advisor to learn about qualities needed to be a worship leader. They took part in a range of activities that can be used back at their schools. They completed ‘I am’ activities such as I am the good shepherd, I am the light of the world and I am the bread of life etc. They also planned a worship with the support of Louisa and were introduced to some new songs that can be used in worship. They also gained a greater understanding of what worship is, where we can worship and why we do it.
Lots of ‘Big Questions’ were put to the children and they were encouraged to discuss with each other their thoughts and views
Pupil Led Worship
The worship council led a worship on our value of love. They discussed the phrase ‘Love thy Neighbour’ and what it means. Who is our neighbour? Who does God want us to show love for? The children all made hearts out of tin foil to represent our love for others.

Linda from our Local Academy Council spent the day with us as did Rev. Gary. Julia, the Chair of our LAC and Jenny, a parent LAC member also popped in for the celebration at the end of the day where certificates were handed out.
All in all a fab day where pupils and adults learnt a great deal!
