St Peter’s CE Academy, Alton is set in the beautiful village of Alton, Staffordshire

The academy is located close to St Peter’s Parish Church and is a member the Staffordshire University Academies Trust (SUAT) and the Diocese of Lichfield.

Our small, rural academy aims to foster a Christian, caring ethos in which children thrive by celebrating achievement and making sure they feel valued and secure. All children are taught to respect others and are provided with exciting learning opportunities. Standards of teaching, achievement and expectations of behaviour are high.

We welcome children into our Foundation Stage Class as follows:

  • Nursery in the term following their 3rd birthday
  • Reception in the September following their 4th birthday

The children are currently taught in three small classes and enjoy a wide and varied curriculum to suit all abilities and learning styles. The children stay with us until the end of Year 4 (age 9 years) when they transfer to Ryecroft Middle School before moving to Thomas Alleyne’s High School, Uttoxeter at 13 years old.

Parents are attracted to the caring ethos of our small school which in the words of Ofsted (2017)…..
“The staff treat every child as an individual and really care for them…..both teachers and support staff engage pupils in stimulating and interesting topics that enable them to make good progress in their learning as well as building strong and positive relationships with pupils and adults across the school.”

From pupils:

‘Our school is very friendly. We all look after each other.’  Year 4 pupil
‘I like school, I have lots of friends there.’ Year 2 pupil
‘I enjoy school because learning here is fun.’ Year 3 pupil

The Christian values chosen by the children are: Love, Respect and Friendship.
